Allen and Daniela started PhotoBoat in Spring 2005 and enjoyed much success on Long Island Sound in their debut season.  When it got too cold for their subjects to go out on the water in Connecticut, they went South.  Allen spent the chilly months of winter 05-06 working on the island of Tortola with well-known Caribbean photographers Guy Clothier and Brynley Argast of Yacht Shots BVI (www.yachtshotsbvi.com). 

Allen’s instinctual grasp of on-the-water mechanics combined with a high quality digital SLR, professional imaging lab, and eye for the lens and light make him the perfect guy for the job.  His wonderful photos reflect this talent sharply.  Allen's 12' inflatable RIBs are small enough to buzz around without creating any commotion and his powerboat maneuvering skills keep him out of the way on the race course.  And yes, he can drive and take pictures at the same time!

Daniela has been addicted to boating since she began at age ten, and as a result she has put in 10 years as a sailing instructor from Connecticut to the BVI and even Italy.  She uses her Economics degree from Georgetown with a bit of creative license as she manages and markets PhotoBoat.  Just like Allen, Daniela has her captain's license and natural talent behind the lens. She splits her time between the behind-the-scenes administration and on-the-water time with the camera in one hand and the tiller in the other.

Allen and Daniela live on their newly acquired Gulfstar 37' sailboat. This fall they traveled down the East Coast to get to Key West for the winter of 06-07.

Now they have sailed back up the east coast and are cruising from regatta to regatta.

Allen is going through some minor but inhibiting cancer treatments this season. So Allen and Daniela will take a break from the live-aboard sailboat and drive down south this winter trailering their dinghies.
